Fanatic Teacher Brands Students

A Mount Vernon, Ohio teacher was unanimously fired by the Mount Vernon school board this past Friday after he apparently "branded" several students with a high-frequency generator with the sign of the cross. He claims he was simplydemonstrating the tool and that the symbol was not a cross, but rather an "X."

Not a cross?! As the picture to the right shows, there is a stunning resemblance to the Christian cross. Yes, there should be freedom of religion, expression of religious symbols, and prayer for all faiths allowed in the classroom, but literally tattooing students with the sign of the cross is 'crossing' the line, don't you think?

Alas, my friends, is it a cross or is it not a cross: that is the question.
