A Florida substitute teacher's disappearing toothpick trick cost him more than just his middle school class' respect-he also lost his job. Jim Piculas performed the 30 second stunt at Rushe Middle School in Land 'o Lakes, FL, leading to accusations of "wizardry." The trick was simply an attempt at adding harmless bit of amusement to his teaching technique. The supervisor of the teaching staff, however, did not appreciate humor in the situation, saying, "Jim, we have a huge issue, you can't take any more assignments- you need to come in right away..."


Piculas has expressed concern that the incident may negatively effect future employment.
